Message in a bottle.
Yes, writing is like placing a message in a bottle. The moment you place that message in the bottle, cork it and throw it in the open sea, to float with the current; that is when you rely on destiny. Destiny and the flow of the tides to find that random person who needed to find it, read it and connect with your message. The intricate circumstances of fate needed to find that person who needed to read exactly that specific message is priceless. There is something special about finding someone across space and time, who needed to read exactly what you wrote, which you were compelled to write, on that piece of paper.
We are all connected. For someone far away, in silence and deepened thought, in a room, to share acquired wisdoms, or merely offer a few minutes of escape from reality, by telling a story; it is a soul fulfilling passion to touch souls. Souls the writer do not know, but from experience know that they have shared emotions with, shared experiences and there is nothing more precious than sharing life’s lessons so that, if possible, another can ease through a similar experience with grace and forewarning.
So, yes, my soul feels compelled to leave messages in bottles. I love to watch the flow. I love watching where my messages go. I love receiving messages when someone has read my book and found solace in it. I love taking people on a journey, away from everyday life as I, at a few stages in my life, wished for the same.
As long as my mind, fingers and drive would permit me, I will dedicate precious time, of which we are granted so little, to leave messages in bottles for those who will appreciate the spectacular brilliance of connection and circumstance of fate.
